About Empty Vessels
Many times I ponder on the fact that the children of Israel wandered in the desert for 40 years. Arid climates, rough winds, and dry lands were all tools the Lord of Hosts used to humble His people. Was it not enough for them to have been slaves for 400 years? Was their experience in Egypt not enough to humble them to not think of themselves higher or better than God? And yet, the 40 years in the desert were still not enough for their hearts to be humbled.
It is so easy for us to point our finger at the children of Israel and not see the pride that fills our hearts all the way up to the brim - and even overflows! We overlook the depth of our pride and underestimate the fact that many tools are necessary to empty ourselves of ourselves. I do not know if or believe that we can ever properly estimate how many tools are necessary to empty us; perhaps to do so would be prideful.
When I came to know God and walked with Him, I knew, learned and understood that humility was a virtue that I needed to strive for in order for the Lord to truly be seen through me. However, the path between understanding and believing sometimes is much longer than we care to admit. While being discipled, the Lord opened my eyes to see that humility, the humility of Christ, was not in my life. Although until then I knew that I was to seek humility, I did not know that seeking it was not enough; it was not even the way to attain it. I was pushed off a cliff and was now free falling into the depths of trusting God. Only He can bring humility in my heart and I cannot attain it in my strength or through my efforts. The only way is through Christ - the perfect picture of humility. Does this sound familiar? I pray it does, for it is the same way in which we first came to the Father, that is, through Christ.
After much prayer and counsel, this website was set up to chronicle the walk of vessels seeking to be emptied of self and filled with the humility and love of Christ. Not only is it a place for me to share with you but, more importantly, for other vessels (yup, that's you!) to share their testimony of the work of the Lord in their lives.
Empty Vessels was brought forth with the purpose of allowing the children of God to share how we are emptied of ourselves, of our pride and love for self, and by this be edified.
May the Lord bless you and keep you, may He shine His face upon you, may He lift up His countenance upon you and give you Peace.
